About

The Certified Course on Diabetology (CCD) has proven very useful as a training programme for the doctors. Since its inception in 2004, CCD first trained doctors inside Bangladesh Diabetic Association and subsequently trained almost 10,000 doctors till date. Currently the course enrolls 1200 doctors per year out of almost 4000 applicants. To keep up with demand for the course and to extend the reach of CCD it would be highly beneficial to also launch an online version (e-learning) of the course, along with its present form. Though converting the entire course to eLearning is not feasible, mainly due to many clinical aspects and the need for hands on training. The online course will be divided into two parts –online (70%) and face to face (30%) communication.

The e-learning will also enable introduction of refresher courses and adding courses of other disciplines. The refresher course will help to keep the trained physicians updated with the latest innovation and technology in the medical field periodically. Inclusion of other discipline, particularly other diseases is important as diabetes care needs a holistic approach.
